Kaeleigh's Inspiring Journey with Light Therapy

 A Little About Me

          Hello everyone my name is Kaeleigh from @kaeliving. I'm a near infrared/red light therapy lover and have been using light for the last 5 years as part of my self care routine! I'm on a healing and health journey.

          As of now I am in remission from Hodgkins Lymphoma and recovering from the effects of chemotherapy. I'm a huge self care advocate and love all things wellness, especially ecstatic dance! I live in the magical woods seconds to the beach in Maine. I love spending time with my animals and family. I want to share my journey in the hopes of inspiring others, and connecting with all the beautiful people out there!


Finding Light Therapy 

          Red and Infrared light therapy is amazing. I first heard about it when I was diving into the world of natural healing when I initially said no to chemotherapy 5 years ago. I was looking for the easiest and most effective detoxification and healing mechanisms I could find. I came across light therapy online one day while surfing the web. Once I started hearing about the benefits of pain and inflammation reduction, cell repair, mental health, heavy metal and toxin detox, skin rejuvenation and much more, I knew I had to dive in!

          There are so many benefits to light therapy. Red and NIR (near-infrared) therapy is known to promote healing of all kinds in the body. I have noticed immense benefits from daily use of red light therapy! First of all it has helped my skin. With regular use I have noticed my skin get brighter and stay firm and blemish free despite dealing with illness. Red light therapy stimulates the mitochondria of our cells. This in turn promotes cell growth and regeneration. Healthy cells for a healthy body! Red light therapy delivers safe and concentrated wavelengths of natural light to our bodies cells. These red and near infrared wavelengths of light stimulate the cells and reduce oxidative stress. Skin rejuvenation such as reduction in wrinkles, acne, burns, and inflammation occur as the body is exposed to these rays.

            With daily near infrared therapy I have also noticed a huge difference in the pain levels within my body. Fighting on and off pain during my cancer journey has been a struggle but when I am diligent with daily red light use I see an extreme reduction in my pain.  Red light therapy alleviates chronic inflammation by increasing blood flow to our damaged tissues. The more blood our tissues can get the easier cell repair can occur. After eventually choosing to undergo chemotherapy I was worried about the side effects, one of which being joint pain. I can say I feel much better after my morning session and what I love most about the Rouje Petite is that I can have this healing modality everywhere I go!


            Two other huge benefits of red light therapy that you may not think of is the relief of seasonal depression (SAD), and it can give you a better nights sleep! Firstly seasonal depression can occur for many around the world who aren’t getting daily exposure to the sun. I live in a colder climate in Maine where it is winter for 4-5 months out of the year. Despite getting outside more than ever before, I still am not receiving the daily sun exposure that my skin cells crave. Red light therapy mimics some of the suns rays. It affects our brains chemicals that are linked to our mood. I have noticed huge improvements in my mental health with daily red light therapy use! I am happier everyday. That is a huge benefit! I also feel much more peaceful and balanced. The red light makes me feel calm and warm. It is my own personal sacred meditative spa time. I love it! Secondly, my sleep has improved. I used to struggle with falling asleep. I would toss and turn a lot and my mind would race. With regular near infrared use I have been able to fall asleep quickly and with ease now. Exposure to this red light helps to adjust to our circadian rhythm and enhances our natural sleep patterns. Because of its low color temperature red light is great anytime of day! You don’t have to worry about using it during the evenings. In fact I notice when I use the therapy at night I am much more relaxed and find myself resting easier.

            I would highly recommend red light therapy to everyone! Whether you are someone like me on a personal healing journey or you are an athlete looking for muscle recovery, light therapy is for anyone and everyone. The benefits I listed above are just a few of the many! Everyone is different and may find an individualized way that red light enhances their personal life. I really suggest trying this out for yourself! Adding red light therapy to your daily health regimen will only benefit you.
